Hey team; as you've probably guessed, I am going to have to park this baby.
The work commitments keep on coming, and I can't see it letting up for the foreseeable. The short version is: I've been entrusted with some pretty broad responsibilities lately, and there's typically only one shot at these things. It's sink or swim. I want to give it a decent shot and I can't realistically do that
and give Hinterlands (among my other commitments) the focus/time it needs to do it properly. The best thing I can do right now is to park my refereeing.
I don't think anyone will be too surprised, given the limited time I've had to put into it this year. The drawn-out wind-down period aside, Hinterlands has been a hugely successful game from my perspective. I've road-tested a whole bunch of rules variations though a sprawling, organic campaign that far exceeded its original scope. For that, I am grateful for everyone's participation over the past decade; a huge effort from all concerned and, in the big scheme of PBP games, a pretty big deal. My only regret is that I wasn't more diligent about properly organising all the content that got created along the way. That too will have to be ear-marked for a future project.
In the meanwhile,
I am open to someone else taking over as ref to keep any part of the game/setting ticking along, here or elsewhere. In that event I could assist with a hand over/transition. Bueller?
So now might be a good time for any stand out recollections re: what worked well or not so well with the PBP format, and/or for the game in general. I.e., what are the key things to remember for the next any one of us tackles a PBP?
Thanks Team
