"Good day to ye Sir, do come agin now," bobs Alfred as Mads departs the Plow and Furrow, and follows the proprietor's directions. Onto the Main way out front, then first left onto Flea street.

It is a matter of simplicity to find the locale, just around the corner, which turns out to be somewhat wayward, cobbled avenue of perhaps a dozen or so artisan's establishments.

Right away Mads sees a general store proclaiming itself "The Erstwhile Emporium" opposite a vintner's establishment, "Achim's Ambrosias". Echoing from urther down the street Mads hears the familiar ring of hammer and anvil, and his nose detects the unmistakable tang of a tannery.

On the muddy street between the builders are folk offering numerous other services. Mads sees a cobbler fitting and repairing boots on the street, and a score of yards further down the street is a farmer getting his lanky hair cropped good and short by a street barber. Beyond these, the street veers around a corner where a street performer has attracted something of an audience.

"Right then," grumbles Victor, "Let's get ourselves to this Plow an' Furrow afore the whole town appraises itself of us.".

With that he lugs his share of the gear, and instructs Gustave to "Time's a wastin, lead on!"

Gustave gives a trite but courteous bow before leading the whole of the overly laden party back through the market, along Mill street -- where the aromas of freshly baking scones and breads mixed with that of hot tea and coffee defy description -- and then turning along a narrow lane that leads back toward the front gate along the Main way, before stepping up and opening a wide door to a rather humble looking common room.

"Here we are," explains Gustave a block or two later with a furl of his well shaped hand.

"The Plow and Furrow," reads Anwyn rather dubiously from the sign hanging over the door.

Everyone (except Mads, who is elsewhere in the town) tramps inside, with Olaf checking the street behind you (just in case anyone may have taken an interest in your whereabouts) before bringing up the rear...

"Wot kin oi do fer you gent'elmen?" asks the stout little barkeep (known to be Albert to Flewellen and Gustave, who spent the previous night here) with a rosy grin as he looks up from scrubbing down one of the several long wooden tables in his common room.

The place is rustic in appearance, and deserted but for Albert and a couple of kitchen hands who can be heard clanging about in the kitchen, out back. Apparently all of his customers are already out and about their daily business.

Dieter, Caine, Olaf, Padrig, Anwyn, Victor, Ulric and Taines are famished having not yet broken their fast -- and the smells of breads and stews that linger about the common room are delicious.

"I'll start with a heaped breakfast," scowls Victor, "And hot coffee," he adds.

"Very good sir," says Albert enthusiastically as he stands straighter to dry off his hands.

"And hot water and towel wash my face," Victor adds.

"I'll have the same," chirps Anwyn, unceremoniously dropping the huge sack she has been carrying with a heavy thud as she alights gracefully into a seat at the nearest of the long wooden tables.

"Of course," amends Albert, "And the rest of you good people?" he esquires, apparently not noticing his patrons from the previous evening...

Mads the Fair

Mads walks down the street and calmly hails the barber, not wanting to distract from the job in progress.

Olaf steps inside after making sure the group wasn't followed here. He overhears Dieter say "The same all around..."

Olaf says, "If my friend here is talking about food and drink, then I know he has it right for me!"

"My good sir, it looks like you keep a neat and clean house and from the smells coming from the kitchen are no less fine with your victuals." says the tall thin warrior, "My comrades and I have need for sustenance and a bit of privacy. Can you provide us both?"
