Olaf swears a mighty oath and quickly retrieves his sword and takes a stride toward the fleeing villain, but doesn't think he can catch him.waysoftheearth wrote:Dieter charges right into the haphazardly stacked crates and boxes (1d6=5) plowing through them like a bull in a glassblower's store.
But even as he is smashing through the first of several isles, the killer is already pouncing! Koch pulls himself together and lunges with his spear as Olaf makes to boldly defend the passage with scepter and sword, but both are astonished when the figure in black does not even slow by a step, and instead leaps fiercely up the wall, and then springs almost side-ways off the wall like some impossible insect.
Koch (1d20=8) reaches with his spear, but was never even nearly quick enough to recover his balance and then catch the fellow, and Olaf suddenly attempts to switch his defensive stance to a make-shift offense (1d20=1!) but the foe is already somersaulting past his shoulder, and his blade gets caught awkwardly on the wall with a loud clank, and is knocked from his grasp.
The foe lands almost soundlessly and is already sprinting away as he hits the ground -- he will vanish around the bend in a few more paces.
Astounding!
Olaf stops in his pursuit and returns to KOCH, "I can't believe that fellow! He went up the wall and over my shoulder before I could do more than blink!"Professor P wrote:KOCH
As the killer amazing flees Olaf, KOCH's adrenaline wavers and he begins to feel the pain of his wound. With a huff, he falls to his knees, only able to hold himself up by leaning on his spear.
"d**n, that guy packed a whallop. Olaf, you got any spare cloth to bind this?" KOCH fishes out his water bottle and takes a drink.
"Welcome to the party guys!" Olaf says, "You got here a little late."waysoftheearth wrote:The enemy slips around the corner at pace, as Olaf grasps for his fumbled sword. By the time he is upright again the black figure has vanished from sight. Olaf doubts he could catch him -- that fellow was moving.
Meanwhile, there is an awful racket as Dieter comes charging between and through the piles of racks and crates, arriving at the scene as Olaf leans the scepter against the wall, and then pulls a faded and piece of cloth -- once a colourful shirt -- from a nearby box and presses it against Koch's bleeding chest.
The others, Pelenwin, Ulric and Mads, are following in Dieter's dusty wake at a rather more reasonable pace.
