"This may prove to be of use," Josiane says with a satisfied nod of the head as she pockets the wolfsbane.

Noting Ulric's perusal of the papers and Rufus' puzzling over the labels on the bottles she volunteers; "I have some knowledge of the Empyrean script. Perhaps I may be of some service?"

She will examine both papers and bottles if the other two are willing.

Wen seems to find nothing of interest on the shelves he checked. He would continue looking at some others just in case any acid or oil was missed while Dorgan summons aid to the trapdoor he found.

"Oi, Rufus," Desmond pips, passing half of the bottles (how many total are there, WOTE?) of acid over to the other halfling, "Mayhaps we'll find these useful for defeating any locks what might be in our way in the future. Careful wit 'em, though; don't wanna break one on yerself. Eh? Sounds like Dorgan has a job fer ya in the other room..."

He then tries to see if the small vials can be safely packed up for transport. If he can't figure out an easy way to do it, then he'll go back into the other room and pass them to Ulric to see if he wants them.

Ulric takes a stack of the documents and places them in his pack for future study then offers some to Josiane to see if she can translate them.

"The answers to at least some of our questions are likely recorded here," he says to her.

Ulric then takes the vials of acid offered by Desmond. He inspects them carefully to discern their nature.

"Show me where you found these," he asks.

The "disguise" is merely that a 3ft square tile is polished and buffed to the same, grey-white finish as the rest of the floor. However, Dorgan reckons the edges of this "stone" are too true and straight compared to all the others, and with a bit of knocking about the edges of it he decides it is likely a steel plate over a hole.

What any "scouting type" could possibly know about tunneling that Dorgan don't know 'imself is tha question...

Dorgan don't see any possibility that the plate is rigged to anything on this side; but what might be attached to the underside is a mystery, without x-ray vision!

Wen continues to cast through the bottles and whatnot, his interest waning...

What could all this stuff be? He swirls some, sniffs others, suspecting vinegar, acetone, distilled alcohol?, bleach, water?, some vile phlegm or other, some with finger-sized centipedes or beetles suspended in them, others without. Some larger specimen jars seem to contain whole organs, floating inanimate in clear fluids, whatever color they might once have possessed stripped away by long ages of storage...

At length he notices a tall, leather flask of fuel oil standing on the ground beside a shelf. Someone, at one time probably had a practical need to illuminate the room, he supposes...
