Phadian follows in behind Rhegaer looking for an opening to hit the orc with his staff.

Alrik, seeing his companions rush the creature, says in Orcish "Give up now, you cannot hope to survive!"

Both sides are surprised and several things happen all at once.

  Code:

       # o#
######## #/########

Rhegaer draws his new Sword, which immediately bursts into Flame those who speak Neutral hear the metallic voice sing loudly .. "BEHOLD I AM ARVENIL, the DEATHFIRE, ACKNOWLEDGE MY POWER, YOU ARE TOOL" Rhegaer seems to pauses as he stares at the blade in his hand.

dice are being rolled.....

Phadian moves forward but perhaps is distracted a bit by this..

Alrik shouts at the Orc who takes all this in...

mgt's roll comes to 8 [3 5 on 2d6]

Is uncertain just what is going on... Checks Morale

mgt's roll comes to 8 [6 2 on 2d6]

Stands still and speaks"Who sent ya, where's Grumbo?"

"Say hello to your friend Grumbo in hell!" Urist grunts as he swings his mighty hammer.

Rhegaer chuckles, replying in Neutral,"I'm no tool, Arvenil. For now, let's kill some orcs! We can speak of dragons later!"

Pre-Round 1:

Avenril dims for a moment and its voice rings."Agreed, strike now". Rhegaer is suddenly aware of a secret door straight ahead, (see the little mud map) just as it swings open and a Orc comes out. He moves to engage it.

Urist mean while moves north to engage the first Orc.

Round 1:

Initative:
mgt's roll comes to 1 [1 on 1d6] - Orcs
mgt's roll comes to 6 [6 on 1d6] - Party

Urist swings.... mgt's roll comes to 10 [10 on 1d20] - MISS
Rhegaer attacks...mgt's roll comes to 14 [13 on 1d20 +1] - HIT
mgt's roll comes to 4 [2 on 1d6 +2] -

Phadian also joins the combat versus the original Orc. mgt's roll comes to 16 [16 on 1d20] - HIT
mgt's roll comes to 4 [4 on 1d6] - KILLED

The short battle was over before it really started..... 2 orcs are dead and the choices of direction are numerous...

What does the party do now?

"A secret door? How did I miss that!" Urist exclaims. "Maybe they are hiding more treasure. Should we take a look?"

Rhegaer sheaths his* new sword and simply says, "The sword told me about it just before the orc came through..."

He cautiously peers into the secret door to see what is beyond.

*until the sword wins control, I suppose...

Urist peers at the "secret" door and the small 10x10 room behind it. Clearly a small guard post with well concealed spy holes watching for the 3 way intersection. In the dim light and during the heat of battle its no wonder the Dwarf didn;t notice it.

The party stands at the 3 way intersection with double doors south, and a small guard post on the North-East side of the intersection. 2 Dead orcs decorate the scene.
