After we all get to the other side, I'm assuming that we intend to collapse the bridge so we can't be followed...is that right?
We could hide some things over there and it is possible that it would still be here when we come back for it later. If it is left on this side, the snorks are sure to get it.
Olaf has a fine idea -- but it hasn't occurred to him (wisdom 8) that the company has not yet explored the upper works of the gatehouse opposite. The Ogres were defeated in the lower dungeons, but who knows what might be resident in the rooms and towers of the crumbling gatehouse?

Yes, the box weighs 1, and the coins weigh another 1.
Then Desmond will take the box from his backpack and empty the contents into his backpack and toss the box. That frees up one more slot, at least.

Here's a rough overview of the volume of stuff that would need to be left behind in order to remain unencumbered:
11 Excess 11 flasks of oil (11)
17 Excess 3 days of mule feed (6)
50 Excess 3,307cp (33)
53 Mads 4ft pole (1), 60ft hemp rope (2)
58 Dieter four flasks of lantern oil (4), shovel (1)
63 Olaf 8ft pole (1), iron spikes 5 (1), torches 3 (1), 60ft of hemp rope (2)
68 Ulric hooded lantern (1), knave's shortbow (1), knaves quiver 7 (1), three leather scroll cases (1), one of two daggers (saving 1)
70 Gustave two of three flasks of lantern oil (2),
71 Pelenwin torches 6 (1)
75 Highbough winter blanket (2), candles 12 (1), oil flask (1)
81 Wibert handaxe (1), iron spikes 4 (1), torches 3 (1), Padrig's water skin (1), Padrig's metal shield (1), Knave's quiver 4 (1)
82 Desmond brigands' coinbox, but not the coins (1)
88 Koch crowbar (1), iron spikes 6 (1), 60ft hemp rope (2), winter blanket (2)
91 Andaros Flewellen's water skin (1), knave's shortbow (1), knave's quiver 3 (1)
In fact, if you were (collectively) to abandon all of the above gear, you could carry all the most valuable loot and 1,000 of the copper pieces between you.

While Ulric and Highbough are calculating the logistics of moving overland with the most valuable portion of the loot, Gustave, Dieter, Victor and Andaros are figuring out how to lower the timber bridge span. Olaf remains on watch.
This "figuring" consists mainly of pulling, pushing, shrugging, hitting and heaving at the massive contrivance, and eventually -- by brute force -- Dieter weakens a pivotal chain link sufficiently for the overall mass and strain to burst that link, pulling the remainder of the chain through violently as the arched timber span tumbles down from its resting position with an almighty clatter, throwing up an enormous and cloud of dust as it rattles down over the gap in the stone bridge. The whole structure shivers and bounces upon impact; numerous serious pieces of timber break free and tumble down into the ravine, while the remaining structure looks sorely weakened for the experience.
In fact, the entire span looks frail, weather beaten, and near collapse. Rickety, to say the least. But the 20 yard gap in the bridge is spanned.

As if on queue, Olaf spies a new column of soldiery approaching from the north, marching at double time. At this distance they look to be somewhere between a dozen and a score more footmen... they will surely join their fellows within 20 minutes or so.
And lo! What be this steady thump that carries now upon the air? Thump. Thump. Thump. What new terror can this be? Olaf holds his hand up to shield his eyes form the wan glare as he scans the far troops, then pales as a massive GIANT lumbers into view behind the hobgoblins, its huge foot falls audible even at this distance -- thump. Thump. Thump.
It is a grievous drum indeed. The monster stands four times the meager height of the tallest hobgoblin, and it bears a great tree bough of a club across its immense shoulder. The stench of its malice is detectable already...
Woe is come now!
Thump. Thump. Thump...

OOC:
Wibert is already heavily overloaded. If he carries much more he'll be dragging it.
Wibert will keep:
Wibert handaxe (1), torches 3 (1), Padrig's water skin (1), Padrig's metal shield (1), Padrig quiver.
But leave behind:
iron spikes 4 (1), Knave's quiver 4 (1)
If I can't carry the copper coins so be it.
I will leave behind the Knaves' Possessions from my last posting, but if I can I will try to carry the purses if no one else does.
~~~
Wibert wonders what the a large iron key of slain
Deggerhund opens.
"
Lets get out of here", repeats
Wibert ready to run to get out of here!
Alas,
Wibert won't be running anywhere unless he drops more stuff...
Clothing (-), backpack (-), bedroll (1), waterskin (1), purse {2sp, 2cp} (-), leather armour (2), locksmith's tools (-), handaxe (1), five daggers (2), iron spikes {4} (1), torches {3} (1), tinderbox (-), sack (-), shoulder pouch (-), belt pouch (-), Sigmund's purse (-), Sigmund's dagger (-), Sigmund's ring (-), Padrig's water skin (1), Padrig's metal shield (1), Padrig's shortbow (1), Padrig's quiver {11} (1), Padrig's silver arrows {3} (-), Knave's quiver {4} (1), Compact cooking pots (1).
Carrying Capacity = Strength =
11. Load =
13
Does
Wibert really need two water skins? And six daggers in addition to a hand axe? And what will he do with Padrig's shield?
Done! "Let's get out of here!! We should link ourselves together by rope to arrest a fall as we cross the rickety bridge."
Olaf calls down to those below, "Here comes the reinforcements. Looks like 15 to 20 more of the goblin footmen and they've got a giant...a *real* giant...with them!"
"If we're going to skedaddle, I think we better get moving real soon now."
