bilfur sees if he can identify the mold, by visual and smell not by touch. He says, " wait I may know stuff about this mold"

Bilfur searches his memory and recalls some trivia about yellow mold: It has a deadly spore attack with 10' radius, and it usually takes about 3 flasks of flaming oil to destroy it. The lumps are probably the half-digested remains of adventurers who got too close!

OOC: Intelligence check: Bilfur must roll 1d20 under INT 6. He rolls 4, success!

Maybe it's also a good time to remind the party about the supply trunk (Dungeon level 1, Area 3). You can stock up on oil and other supplies without leaving the dungeon, at the standard prices.

"Probably half digested adventurers, eh? Yuck. But they may have valuables on them! I wish there was some way other than fire to destroy it -- what if they were carrying scrolls or other delicates?"

Willie muses all this, but he is willing to explore further, or attempt to destroy the mold, as the group decides.

Bilfur explains the yellow mold and asks, " he was there barrels and boxes back in the first floor of this place. Was there oil there?"

Kiplyn answers "Yep, there is a whole trunk full of stuff. But let's move on I don't fancy getting any closer to that patch right now."

Dame Simonetta is in accord with Kiplyn.

Dougal considers for a moment before speaking, "For the greater good, we should destroy this mold, whether or not it ruins what may lie beneath. If we don't destroy it, then it just keeps spreading. And can kill other, unsuspecting adventurers. I say we fire it up. From a safe distance."

Willie sighs. "No, you're probably right, Dougal. We should destroy it -- but let's just peek into this next chamber to make sure fire & smoke won't scare up anything dangerous."

Willie goes south to take a look, and assuming there's nothing too exciting, and that the rest of the Club are willing, he'll return to help destroy the mold. The oil must be thrown from the western end of the mold chamber, though, to avoid its spores!

Bilfur waits to see what they see in the next room. He adds, " if there are dead adventurers in the mold at least their ashes can be sent to the heavens. "

"When you put it that way," Wilbur says, "you're absolutely right."
