That sounds like it might be firing into melee, and if so would risk hitting a friend.

Maybe it might deflect a beam (and I guess this might be assumed as part of your saving throw, if required), but I don't think it could reflect/redirect a beam. It would more likely scatter it in many directions.

Ways, I meant either (a) missile fire upon the Tar Fiend or (b) melee with a werewolf. Am I to understand that Armando cannot use missile weapons against the Tar Fiend without risk of clobbering a companion?

I'd recommend that anyone who doesn't want to see the pointy end of a disintegrate should be getting out of its line of sight as a number one priority. It's a save or die scenario people.

Anyone engaged in melee will be selected randomly if the melee is targeted.

Anyone not engaged in melee is fair game. Ulric is the current "hot" target.

FYI--when I diced for Ulric's saving throw I had to go twice; the first attempt was one of those awful "rolls" where the die didn't really tumble at all, but only spun around its vertical axis while the upper-most face stayed upper-most the entire "roll". It was a 7. But I felt it wasn't a fair throw, so I re-rolled and he made a 13.

Ah, I misunderstood. The Tar Fiend is un-engaged and can be safely targeted.
The werewolf is engaged in melee, so any missiles targeted at it would be subject to the risk of random target determination.

Have a look at the mudmap Eris: Olaf is the "O" He is with Dieter and Torben near the bell tower. Josiane is quite a distance away from him around the wall (probably 30-40 yards or so) and not really in direct communication with Olaf.

Of course, as players, you can decide on an effective strategy between you (and this is highly recommended!)

Hint taken.

I often play Highbough as sort-of-Lawful when it's convenient to the party/storyline. This is not one of those times. Good luck everyone! :D

(edit) I am assuming Invisible Highbough became visible when he attacked, is that correct?

Speaking of effective strategies, I think it's about time we ran away.

I'd just really really like to not leave anybody behind this time. (Seems like we've done too much of that.)

Is there any realistic way Dieter could know that The Gustave has gone down inside the courtyard? Because it doesn't look like it to me.

Other than that, I don't have any ideas right now. Anybody else?

Might as well run now, sneak in later, and try to close the portal while the Tar Demon isn't summoned.

I can drop the rope down the other side of the wall for Olaf, as I imagine Dieter will use his ring? If it can reach, we'll be out in open ground unless we head for the orchard?
