Yes... Helmut and Josiane should be the ones to address the peasants. Maybe not the dwarf and the two-headed hobbit. But possibly we could act as "guards" or some such thing.

Yep, joint thief expedition might be a good idea right now, especially if Mondes is going to scare the town folk. We probably need to secure the front door, anyway. Iirc, it is unsecured at the moment.

We could gather all the wire and pulleys possible (the halfling couldn't reach all of the traps even to disarm them properly, so he had to make do and just set if off by dropping the weight) and grab a few crossbows and bolts, as well. Not a bad idea, really, since Desmond is currently without his bow. I suspect we'll find it when we find Nizzib's lair...

Otherwise, he can also be apart of getting the camp followers folks to get the work done (and help of course) and, importantly, take up a watch or even two watch periods so those folks needing rest for leveling may get it.

For the best chance to get the town folk to work, Josiane should maybe be part of the team that asks them.

Indeed. Although Helmut is of the church, he is much more comfortable chopping its enemies into sushi than wiping the bottoms of the feeble.
