It's not my goal to be benevolent or malicious.
I aim to be impartial but, overall, I suspect I do tend to favor the players somewhat. In this next endeavor I am aiming to be a little stricter, perhaps, but it's still all about creating a fun game.

I know, WOTE. Was just joshing. You are certainly a fair DM, perhaps one of the fairest I've played under.

I think if you just keep on keeping on, the game will be great. :)

Okay Players, here are my thoughts this morning:

I have been burning the midnight oil working on DD V5, so I want to bring Hinterlands over to the latest rules to save on head-space.

V5 isn't public yet, but I'll leak the relevant player bits here and for the rest you'll just have to trust me. The differences between V4 (the current rules) and V5 are mostly minor anyway, but there are a few mechanical changes which will possibly make combat more decisive and help to keep a PBP game moving along.

Most of the existing house rules will still apply, but I do want to change up the player classes so there'll be: fighters, M-Us, clerics, plus a couple of new optional-types I want to test play: the rat-catcher (an alternate thiefy-type) and the ranger (self explanatory I hope). I'd really like M-Us to have a go at inventing their own spells, but we'll see how that goes.

I will try to post up a new house rules thread and a new PC generation thread in next few days...

Aye Aye! Once we see the rolls the hard choices start. :) (I hope Wen and Highbough make it to safety so they can tell stories about battling Giant Sand Worms in the Wastelands of Alcazar)

Okay folks.

I am going to outsource character sheet maintenance to the players cos a) I trust you all want to do the right thing, b) it will save me a lot of effort, and c) it's more like classic table top play.

So I've put together a micro mockup of how it can work here.

You'll see (over in the micro mockup) a read only PC record sheet, which is what the public (including me) will see. And also an editable version of the same PC record sheet, which is what only you--each player--will have access to.

You can edit the read/write version and then (within the 5 minutes is takes Google to propagate the changes) you should see your changes appear in the read only version too. Freakin' awesome!

Unfortunately our read/write PC record sheets will probably have to go in a password protected thread to prevent spammers from editing/deleting them while we sleep... but the basic idea seems to work.

If someone here with a few hours to kill could reproduce this record sheet in an xlsx file using this font, that would be a great help too :D

I'll see if I can get that done tonight or tomorrow night. Don't know if I can stretch it out to several hours, but I could try...
