In the middle of the room is a gleaming sword stuck in an anvil
Aldbane also avoids the melee, instead grabbing the sword hilt, intent to pull it out of the anvil and pass it off to one of his martially-inclined friends (
| Maybe Maloof use it? |).

^ The sword has disappeared, but maybe it's just invisible so it's still worth checking out!

As Franklin enters the room behind Maloof, the sword and anvil disappear, and the three gargoyles come to life. Their intentions do not look peaceful

Ah, I forgot that! Aldbane will still see if the sword and anvil are there but invisible, or maybe we need to destroy the gargoyles to get the sword back?

Bob is aware that Gargoyles can only be hit by magic. But, he can miss with a magic weapon whereas a MM hits automatically. Nailus is taking the smarter choice. He is glad to toss the battle axe to someone else to allow more to fight. Any takers?

Yes, but unless I am confused, he has no magic missiles left. He is a level 1 MU, and he has already cast Magic Missile. Your character on the other board has a wand of magic missiles, so you might have gotten confused. Or I'm confused

Franklin joins Maloof in retreating to the western door. He instructs his henchmen: "Fall back! We don't have the numbers to win this fight."
OOC: The odds look grim. Franklin observed that it took 3 hits to bring down the first gargoyle. Therefore he is trying to avoid a situation where any party member would have to face a gargoyle 1-on-1. Even a 3-on-2 melee seems too dangerous. Without 4-on-2 melee, or some kind of magic, Franklin doesn't think we have enough offense to win this fight safely. Run away, run away!

Aldbane scraps his plans for now and moves to the western door with the others.

Franklin is willing to defend Aldbane while he checks for invisible swords. It seems worth verifying whether there is or isn't a sword, before we move on. Should only take a moment.

OOC: sorry all, am not at home with my computer, so confused my characters.
Nailus will advance and attack a gargoyle with his magic battle axe if need be. He is willing to fight a withdrawal as well.

Sounds good!
