None of the templars were equipped with any missile weapons; dishonourable things. A couple of the townsfolk have slings and shanghais for warding birds off their crops. There are a half-dozen flasks of lantern oil around the abbey, but the population would miss their night-lamps sorely were the fuel all gone...

Dorgan frowns. There are four ogres in dat cave, or at least there were when we 'visited' last year. And the noble templars tend ta frown on ranged combat so we'll have ta fight hand to hand. I'm not sure about this. Unless we've given up on going back and are committed ta making the Abbey a safer place?

"Ogres are basically idiots, says a disdainful Highbough. "There is no reason why we need to fight them in their lair. You mentioned they have been patrolling the area and showing interest in the Abbey. I l propose we track them and ambush them individually. You can be the bait, dwarf."

Dorgan replies, Splittin' 'em up is a good idea. And of course I'll be the one in front. No leader would stand back and let others take risks while he hid in the rear. Don't you agree?

Highough cracks a wry smile thinking how easily the dwarf is manipulated. He climbs whichever wall or tower overlooks the goat path, hoping to catch sight of the ogres and learn their habits.

So... do you intend to spend another town turn at the abbey, or do you wish to venture out, zooming down to exploration time?
If/when the latter comes about, you'll need to specify the parameters of your expedition. Who will be going and staying? Some of the templars could be brought along, or all left to guard the abbey. Let us say the "senior man" among them is Zir Kord, who could be left in charge if necessary.
You should specify supplies carried (food, water, oil, and spellbooks), even though the ogre cave was only a half day from the abbey. Who knows where you'll end up?

I wish to spend as many town turns as needed to deal with my spell situation. It would daft to go without all the spells we can use.

How about Dorgan and the Templars focus on observing the ogres and their travel patters while the casters get their research in order?
