Immersive Ink

"I am Peleus, and my companion is Telemon. We are treasure seekers who ran from the black pudding in the large room, and have been trapped here for a week. We were getting desperate, as we have run out of rations and water, but you must have defeated it. We know the way back to the lift to the surface, but if we throw in with you, we can both take on bigger foes."

First things first: Franklin offers the men some food & water from his pack. "Hi! I'm Franklin. You're right, that black pudding was a tough customer."

Maloof is always happy to hire some red-shirts. I wonder if these two want a salary or a share of the loot, or half-shares?

They thank you for the food and water, which they gulp down greedily. They would be willing to accept one share split between the two of them

Naillus is fine with that offer, but would also go up to a full share for each depending on the toughness of the rest of the expedition.

Half-shares is fine with me, let's hire them and then continue exploring (back to the dragon-mosaic room and then take the south-west corridor).

10' south, then turns west in next 10'; goes 20 more feet, turning south in the last 10'; immediately turns west for 20 more feet, turning north in the last 10'; goes 20 more feet north to a door

Maloof will listen, then step back for the door to be opened (perhaps our new hirelings will want to perform the opening).

Peleus yanks open the door to reveal a long room, 20' wide x 60' long, with a door at the far end. The room is cluttered - bunk beds, wizard apparati, book cases, etc - and occupied by an irritable wizard and eight screeching bird men

Franklin would not be the one to fire the first shot, but if violence seems inevitable, the three hobbits will concentrate their fire on the wizard, hoping to take him out before he can cast any spells.
