When he can stay awake no longer, Dieter tramps up the stairs and knocks on Highbough's door.
The old Elf rises somewhat crankily, and relieves Dieter of his watch. The big fighter thankfully retires to his own room to get some well deserved rest...
Highbough walks all the silent corridors of the manse in his inky black Robe of Elemental Night being hardly more than a shadow himself.
Eventually he returns to the great hall where the fire is still burning low, and carefully unwraps the fell blade that Guntrum recovered from the tomb, and leaves it laying upon the table.
He examines it in detail with sharp eyes glittering hungrily in the low light. There is something totally alien, yet vaguely familiar about the cold, sinuous blade. It certainly has a malice about it that Highbough cannot quite put his finger on, though he dredges all of his long and deep memories... (1d6=4)
But ponder the blade though he might, he cannot identify its maker or purpose without visiting a library of great lore.
The fire burns down to embers as the night passes by the witching hour...
