"No idea," Ulric answers gruffly. "Considering how much is coating the walls I certainly hope not. Since nothing is currently attacking us I suggest we make use of the time and check these crates and this hole. Either that or we could just stand here waiting for something to attack."

Dorgan's the dwarf for the job. "All righty then. Let's see what we can see."

Dorgan will slowly move up until he's next to the crates. He'll take a close look to make sure there's no evidence that these are now nests for beasties or something similar.

Assuming he sees nothing bad and nothing jumps on him, he'll try to pry one of the crates open.

From his nearer position, Dieter can now see there is a rickety looking wooden ladder affixed to the near-side of the circular pit wall by which one could descend into the darkness. To his left -- previous concealed behind a pile of earth (and still half buried in it) -- there is a waist-high pedestal standing near the rim of the pit.
