Meanwhile, Thanis has softly, quietly approached somewhat nearer (80yd) with his bow at the ready, and observes the Hobbet darting gleefully out of harms ways as the pursuers thrash clumsily into the brush, looking in the wrong places for something that just isn't there. It doesn't take long for them to settle down, perhaps deciding the disturbance was caused by an animal. After 10 minutes of increasingly cursory searching, they turn tail and head back toward the moat house.
As he silently watches the retreat, Thanis notices another figure emerge under the arch of the second moat house, on the far side of the 30yd bridge. They seem to listen to the ruckus a moment, before returning into the shadows of the arch with a showy swish of their yellow-green cloak...
Although Tass is not quite a fast as the men, they are not twice his speed so it makes little difference here. Significantly, a smaller party has a much better chance of evading pursuit than does a larger party. UWA gives Tass a base 90% chance to evade and says woods will add 25%, elevating Tass' odds to (a somewhat dubious) 115%.
DD converts these percentage dice to six-sided dice to align better with the other dungeoneering throws, and gives Tass a base 5 in 6 chance to evade. 1d6=5, so he evades without even fussing about the additional cover offered by woods.
