If Aldbane's search does not bear fruit: Franklin remembers from last time that the secret door opened when we went east. So he checks the east exit of the room, maybe there is a pressure plate or mechanism that opens the door? He methodically paces the area, deliberately stepping on each paving stone.

If neither Aldbane nor Franklin can figure out how to open the door, Franklin shrugs his shoulders and says, "I have a crowbar and a potion of giant strength; should we give that a try?"
