Re: Delve the Fifteenth

MONSTERS
12 Ogres @ 400 xp = 4800 xp
3 Myrmidons @ 600 xp = 1800 xp
3 gargoyles @ 400 xp = 1200 xp
1 black pudding @ 1000 xp = 1000 xp
2 cubes @ 400 xp = 800 xp
TOTAL 9600 xp
2400 xp each

GOLD 962 gp = 962 xp
= 240 xp each

2640 base xp each

Aldbane 2772 +18760 = 21532 xp
Maloof 2904 + 5904 = 8808 xp
Franklin 2640 + 11644 = 14284

Nailus, adventuring as MU 2772 + 1999 = 4771
He is now a level 2 MU, so he can memorize 2 spells
He has a full Level 1 spell book
His hitpoints do not increase

ITEMS
You have found a +3 Shield to give to somebody

MONEY
each character gains 210 gold after identifying shield, paying henchies, misc expenditures

Nailus has to decide whether to adventure as a Fighter or MU

Re: Delve the Fifteenth

confused this game with another, sorry. Was busy at that moment, so replied without checking into things.

If Naillus becomes a 3rd level once he crosses 5,000 xp then he will adventure as a mage.
But, if no one else wants the +3 shield, Naillus will humbly accept it as he can use it.

Re: Delve the Fifteenth

Yes, in this game, ftr xp and MU xp are tracked separately, and you only gain one or the other, depending upon whether you adventure as a fighter or a MU. So it makes sense to go as an MU

Here is the section from the rulebook, so if you adventure as a MU, the only thing you can't do is cast spells while in non-magic armor

Elves
begin as either fighters or magic-users but can change class between adventures as often as desired. An elf becomes dual-classed when he changes class for the first time and may thereafter use both the weaponry of a fighter and the spells of a magic-user simultaneously.

The dual-classed character must maintain separate experience point totals for each of his classes, with all earned experience going toward his currently active class. He uses the more favorable game statistics of both classes during play but cannot act as a magic-user while wearing non-magical armor.

Elves deal +1 hit point of damage when employing magic weapons and can move and fire a bow without penalty when on foot. They are nearly invisible in their gray-green cloaks and can move almost silently. When actively searching they will locate secret doors with a throw of 3-6 on a six-sided die. When merely passing by they will do so with a throw of 5-6 on a six-sided die. They will identify noises when listening at doors with a throw of 5-6 on a six-sided die and are immune to the paralyzing touch of ghouls and thulls. They are, however, limited to 4th level as fighters and to 8th level as magic-users.

Elves are able to speak the languages of gnolls, hobgoblins, and orcs as well as their own language, their alignment tongue, and the common tongue.

Re: Delve the Fifteenth

Franklin already has a magic shield, so he doesn't call "dibs" on this one.

He gives his ring of invisibility to Maloof.

He doesn't have much need for the 240gp so he spends it to help Balbo and Drogo feel appreciated. He upgrades them to the best possible equipment (plate + shield, if that makes sense?) and provides ample budget for food + entertainment while resting in town.

Finally, he looks into adoption opportunities for Sconces (possibly with Rhod?) as he worries the deeper levels of the dungeon are getting too dangerous for a little puppy. If Sconces got caught in the blast radius of some spell or breath weapon, Franklin would never forgive himself.

Re: Delve the Fifteenth

Thanks @mushgnome. I have deliberately been keeping Sconces back as I didn't want him killed off. If I played him properly, he would probably be monster chow by now

Re: Delve the Fifteenth

Sconces was primarily a role-playing aid, to establish that Franklin is kind and loves animals. Thank you for letting him survive for as long as he did.

Just putting it out into the universe: One of the few items left on Franklin's bucket list is somehow acquiring an intelligent sword. If he finds one on the next dungeon delve, then his current +1 sword is up for grabs (possibly going to Maloof).

It's only a boring +1 short sword, but it's one of my favorite D&D weapons of all time. I don't know if you remember, but the blade was originally acquired by Grampus, so it has a lot of history. In my mind, it is the "Sting" of Gorthaur's Madness.

coffee is retiring his character, but we have had so many characters play, get a magic weapon, and then retire, taking it out of the party, that I am going to give Aldbane a Mace +1 so he cam join in the fun. I am sure another +1 weapon will eventually show up for Maloof
Excellent, thanks! Aldbane has a surfeit of gold and will spend lavishly looking for a decent fighting-man retainer in town.

I will admit that I am new to this team, but you all have a lot of history. Hoping I can contribute to its success.

For 300 gold, and a half treasure share, you have your choice of three experienced adventurers, who have heard of your deeds (about lvl 3 characters)
Bannon, a Paladin of Law
Henry, a fellow cleric
Cassandra, a soothsayer

The Paladin sounds intriguing - let's go with Bannon.
