(See http://odd74.proboards.com/index.cgi?ac ... ge=1#55392here and let me know what clothing you want to purchase.)
Olaf is buys:

Smalls, 2cp
Socks, 2cp
Trousers, 3sp
Shirt, 1sp
Vest, 2sp
Boots, knee, 6sp
Cap, 4cp
Belt, 3cp

At a cost of 12 sp, 11 cp

He'll also want to have his current clothes washed and mended, so on their movement around the town, a stop by a laundry. If his boots need mending and/or resoling a stop at a bootmaker would also be appropriate...he'll certainly need them cleaned and shined.

Olaf still has his sword and scabbard, but I think he is lacking a bow now and will want to rectify that. He'll also need to see to his armor...having it mended and perhaps upgrading it. He had a helm, but I think it got bashed, so he may need to replace that, too. Seeing as he expects the group to be in town for several days he isn't in a big rush to fix/replace arms and armor...unless the party is going to take on the undead threat.

"Now", he continues, that topic apparently concluded, "I need to see about some artifacts of war. I suggest we meet back here in an hour. It might be wise to summon some help in the form of our large comrade Dieter too - such a sum as we are going to collect might attract the wrong kind of attention. I will drop by the Plough and see who is in."

With that he strides off in seach of an armoury.

An alchemist, or so his sign does decry; For the beaten wooden sign reads Everyman's Alchemy, and hangs over a two wheeled push cart upon which is hunkers the Man's mobile store. He his it spilled wide so that his inventory of balms, oils, sands, fluids, grits, rare-earths and so on are displayed for the public.

The Man himself appears to be a somewhat eccentric chap who almost entirely lacks the talent of engaging with the buying public. And his grey cloak, worn shoes and generally scruffy appearance atest to this circumstance.

"well now," thinks Dorgan, recalling the mysterious vile attached to his dagger sheath...
Dorgan, silently thanking his good luck, will stop and converse with the fellow.

Sir, a moment if ya please. I bought me a dagger from a street vendor, much like yerself, only now I noticed the sheath has a vial attached to it. I can't find the Man again and I'd like ta know 'xactly what's in it? Can you tell me?

Very good.

Josiane can purchase whatever she desires from the staple price lists by browsers the vendors' stalls and wares along Bow Street, Flea Street and in the Market Square.

Six wooden stakes cost 3cp and are 1 bulk.
A mallet is equivalent to a hammer (3sp).

Please list how many of each item Josiane wants to purchase.

Ulric (and Wibert); the Temple of Thuul

"Ah, Wibert the Cook!" says Pelenwin with a broad smile when he spies the Halfling, "Forgive me, I didn't see you down there."

Neither did Ulric. Apparently, Wibert is keen to be wherever the dagger goes...

However, Pelenwin's smile vanishes as he confides in his fellows;
"'Tis an unfortunate truth that the Deacon is a difficult Man. He has suffered many slights and hurts and is of a bitter and resentful disposition. He will not easily be persuaded to yield his lore. Not to anyone outside the order. And especially not to anyone laying claims of civil unrest at his door."

"Perhaps," Pelenwin ponders a moment, "Perhaps it would be best if I present these artefacts and allow him to assume they come from my own mission -- which would not be so very far from the truth of it."

He scratches his chin thoughtfully. "The Deacon is fond of a brandy, I have heard, perhaps a fair bottle to sustain his studies would not hurt our cause?"

Once he's presentable, he will ask around if there are any Elves in town so he can pay his respects.

Highbough wants to keep the spear if it turns out to be magic, and he's willing to forgo some of the coin in exchange, if the party decides that's fair.

What is the procedure for hirelings, can I just tell you what Highbough wants, or should we role-play it out?
Highbough takes his bath and meal at Ablert's where his present company seem, more or less, to expect to meet again later to split the additional loot.

Then he goes in search of tailoring and laundering services, which he finds a plenty along Flea Street and in the market square itself. However, he finds that he attracts a number of baffled stares from the Men-folk, and horrified gasps from those plump, well dressed Goblins about town, who startle, then hurry off in the opposite direction whenever they see the old Elf.

He decides it wise to pull up his hood while walking the streets, so as not to attract over much attention to himself.

The tailors, cobblers and seamstresses of Ket are not exactly accustomed to outfitting an Elf, and they make baggy clothes, better suited to the shape of Men. However, the new clothes are at least clean.

As to other Elves (1d6), Highbough sees no sign. But this doesn not surprise him unduly. They might well be keeping a low profile, rather like himself.

(Hirelings must be acquired in game...)

"A D-d-dwarf, hey?" Says the fellow, nervously, "All, a-a-at your service, and a-a-all, hey?"

Dorgan decides almost immediately that he doesn't much like the fellow. He has a nervous manner about him, his head bobbing up and down, and twitching this way and that while his eyes twitch the other. And there's a strange smell on him, like burned fish.

"Well, l-l-let's see it then, this v-v-vial o' yours,"

He grasps the dagger from Dorgan and immediately doubles over like a hyena at a kill, protecting it from its pack-mates, as he inspects it. Then holds it up to the light, then unstops it and sniffs it deeply, almost swooning backward before shaking his head, then touches a tiny bit to his finger and finally his tongue before spitting it out violently.

"Oh yes, l kn-n-now what ye've got here, alright," he announces. "An' fer tw-w-wnenty silver shillings, I'l t-t-tell you too,"

"That sounds like a reasonable plan," Ulric says, "and well worth the cost of a bottle of brandy if it succeeds. Wibert, let us go and find a shop that sells liquors. Any suggestions Pelenwin?"

Josiane looks to purchase:

The 6 stakes - 3 cp. (That should be sufficient for the task at hand... she fervently hopes!)
A mallet - 3 sp.
6 torches - 6 cp.
A tinderbox - 4 cp.
1 flask of firewater oil - 12sp.

Which, if I've got my figures right, leaves her with the princely total of 5 sp and 3 cp.

But she feels far better equipped to go vampire-hunting...
