Josiane's eyes go wide with horror as she takes in the scene before her, but she has prepared for this and knows what she must do.

Her hand grips the symbol of Thuul. She thrusts it towards the oncoming horde and begins to chant the sacred verses of The Sacrosanct Soliloquy...

"Chilly in here isnt it", comments Gustave to Guntrum, the chill air creeping down the back of his neck.

He rubs his mailed arms to warm up. "I do wish we had a few more of those cigars eh?", he adds with a grin.

If there is any room to stand beside Josiane, Dorgan will push past Highbough to get there. Room permitting, he'll stand to Josiane's left so his shield can cover her. He'll hack away at any undead that get within melee reach.

If there's no room for him up front, the dwarf will slide his axe into his belt and grab one of his vials of holy water slung across his shoulder. He'll wait until Josiane's finished her divine incantation and then throw the vial at the first creature to get within 10' feet of her.

Highbough is happy to let Dorgan take the front line. Theoretically he can attack from the 2nd rank with his spear (though he has high expectations that Josiane is about to do something really awesome to render that unnecessary).

How about the passage behind us, how wide? 1 abreast, 2 abreast, etc?

Is there a hook or ledge where Highbough can safely place his lantern?
The right passage is wide enough only for one abreast.

There is a narrow ledge just inside the room, at the top of the stair, which is almost large enough for two.

The stair down into the pit is wide enough only for one sane person abreast... but these scrabbling undead might come two piled atop one another... who knows?

Lanterns can stand neatly upon the ground.

Highbough backs up just inside the mouth of the passage, so that Josiane has room on the ledge to work her magic.

He sets down his lantern, brings two fingers to his mouth, and sounds a piercing, two-tone Elfish war-whistle, to alert all party members that the heat is on.

"Aye. Or one of that Innkeeper's toasted ham sandwiches and a pint of warm cider.". Glancing over his shoulder in the direction of the rest of the party, making sure Josiane is out of earshot, he mutters to add, "colder than a witch's left teat in a brass brassiere!". He maintains his vigil on his passage, staring into the inky blackness beyond the range of the light.

"Ah! indeed!" chortles Gustave, humour warming him slightly against the chill, "You don't see enough of those these days to be sure."
He leans toward Guntrum's ear conspiratorially, whispering "I have heard from reliable sources that warrior women of islands far to the south go about clad in nothing but the discarded husks of giant nuts! That would be a sight worthy of the voyage I'll wager..."

Just then, Highbough's whistle pieces the quiet.

"Ah, it would seem that perhaps our presence is required", he says, glancing around at the dark entrances. "I believe the entrance is secured for a speedy exit? Then perhaps we should heed the summons with some haste..." he finishes, walking briskly but smoothly down the passage after Josiane and Dorgan.

Guntrum grabs one of the torches, hopefully leaving several still burning, and trots in behind Gustave, sword at the ready.
