Dieter, Olaf and Desmond/Mondes head back into the second vault; now dark and chilly again, despite the lingering scent of burned corpses.

Olaf is forced to employ the power of The Resplendent Scepter to illuminate the way forward, and by its magnificent blue-white glare do the bold fighters enter the vault once again.

Desmond/Mondes points out the heavy door barring the passage into which Pelenwin and Wibert did go. It is an implacable stone slab.

Dieter puts his crowbar and considerable muscle to it... (1d6=4) and with much grunting, straining and groaning he eventually gets the nose of the poor crowbar wedged under the door. With all this, the door is raised off the ground perhaps an inch or two, and Dieter realises that it will take an incredible effort to lift it further!

(Referee considers whether now would be a good time to throw for a wandering monster... ;D)

She will urge the others to make all the haste they safely may to rejoin the rest of the party. Once this is done she will dig out both her remaining flask of holy water and her flask of oil from her pack. She will thrust both into her belt for ease of access.

By my reckoning she is currently carrying only a torch. As soon as the water and oil have been secured she will place her shield upon her arm once more.

Between grunts Olaf gasps out, "Thank the stars you didn't abandon Victor and me then and don't even think about abandoning our missing friends now!"

Dorgan wordlessly holds up his last flask for Josiane to see, and then moves back to stand guard with Guntrum against any intrusion coming down from the stairs they just descended.

He will let Josiane sort out where Gustave and the others have gotten off to...

Olaf lends his assistance to Dieter; scarcely being able to get a grib under the heavy stone door, but they strain and grunt and.. (1d6=5!) ever so slowly they get the thing off the ground... there comes the rumble of gears, clunck, clunck, clunck as they raise the door higher. With some serious effort the pair of them have the door raised to waist height...

Now would be an ideal time for Desmond/Mondes to pass into the room beyond (or else put something under the door to stop it from falling down again).

...enter Josiane and Gustave.
